The Beautify Feature Explained

When you draw a signature with a mouse, the canvas captures subtle anti-aliasing artifacts — faint, semi-transparent pixels at the edges of each stroke that can look dusty or blurry when the signature is placed on a coloured background. The Beautify controls fix this in three stages:

  1. Alpha threshold — Removes pixels whose opacity falls below a set level, eliminating dust and noise around the edges.
  2. Edge blur — Applies a gentle blur to the alpha (opacity) channel only, smoothing the transition between the ink and the transparent background.
  3. Auto-trim — Crops the transparent border tightly around your signature so there is no wasted space in the exported file.

Combine these with the Padding control to add breathing room back around the cropped signature — perfect for placing inside a document field without the ink touching the border.

What does the Beautify feature do?
Beautify removes faint dust pixels at the edges of your signature, trims the transparent border to a tight crop, and smooths the edges using alpha channel blurring. The result is a clean, professional-looking signature with natural anti-aliasing — similar to how a real pen looks on paper.
Can I use this digital signature on legal documents?
This tool generates a PNG image of a signature. Whether a PNG signature is legally binding depends on your jurisdiction and the document type. For informal purposes — emails, creative work, non-binding forms — it works great. For contracts, consult your local electronic signature laws (e.g. eIDAS in the EU, ESIGN in the US).
What formats can I export?
