Frequently Asked Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. All PDF merging happens entirely in your browser using the pdf-lib JavaScript library. Your files are never sent to any server — not to 123TinyTools, not anywhere. The merged PDF is created locally in your browser memory and downloaded directly to your device.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
By default, guests can merge up to 5 files per session, logged-in users up to 20, and subscribers can merge unlimited files. The site administrator can adjust these limits. There is no limit on the total number of pages.
Will the merged PDF keep text, links, images and formatting?
Yes. pdf-lib copies each page with its full content — text, vector graphics, embedded images, hyperlinks, and form fields are all preserved. Bookmarks (outlines) and document-level metadata are not merged.
Can I merge password-protected or encrypted PDFs?
Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged. The tool will display an "Encrypted" warning on the file card. Remove the password from the PDF using your PDF reader before uploading.
Can I reorder the files before merging?
Yes. After uploading, use the up and down arrow buttons on each file card to set the order. The top file becomes the first pages in the merged PDF.
What is the maximum file size?
By default, each individual PDF can be up to 50 MB. The administrator can change this limit. Very large PDFs may take a few seconds to process depending on your device.
